Washington Park Action Restoration Committee meets today

Washington Park Action Restoration Committee will meet today at the Methodist Church on the corners of Washington and Sixth Streets.

Gas prices fall

Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 2.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.62/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester.

This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.36/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 39.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 14.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 13.7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 31.2 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

Cassadaga Job Corps Academy to host

informational session

The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will host an informational session and tour of its campus at 8115 Glasgow Road in Cassadaga on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Cassadaga Job Corps provides training to begin a career in the healthcare and construction industries as well as GED classes to those in need of a diploma.

Training in Certified Nurse Aide, Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing and Electrical are available as well as the Advanced Training for Licensed Practical Nurse.

The Academy will accept young adults, age16-24, that are committed to a rigorous education and training program that are prepared to launch a career.

Applicants can apply for on-center living or off center living, and all applicants will enroll on a full federal scholarship if accepted.

Reed’s staff in city Wednesday for office hours

Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold office hours Wednesday in the City of Dunkirk. Reed’s staff will be in the Mayor’s Conference Room at Dunkirk City Hall, 342 Central Ave., from 2:30 until 4:15 p.m. to help answer questions and gather feedback.

Whether it’s a Social Security, Medicare, Veter-ans or any other question or concerns with a federal government agency, Congress-man Reed’s staff will be available to help.

New York’s 23rd Congressional District includes the counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins and Yates.

workshop Wednesday

The Town of Dunkirk will hold a workshop at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road.

The purpose of the workshop is to review proposed zoning changes.
