Pine Valley takes down Brocton-Westfield

SOUTH DAYTON – Kayla Mansfield’s six kills and four aces lifted the No. 15 Pine Valley Lady Panthers past No. 18 Brocton-Westfield, 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 during Wednesday’s Section 6 Class D play-in game.

Aleah Fancher added five kills and three aces while Casey Abers had five blocks and two kills. Ahleen Pollock finished with 22 assists and one kill in the win.

“We had a little slow start,” Pine Valley coach Justina Troutman said. “Brocton stuck with us. Finally our girls communicated and started to play better and we pulled it out in the end.”

Brocton-Westfield was led by Carson Hauser’s nine assists and two aces. Marissa Okerlund had five kills and three blocks in defeat.

Pine Valley now travels to No. 2 Randolph on Friday.

“I know they are good,” Troutman said. “They have always had a strong program. I’m hoping we show up to play.”
