Dawn Clark Spires running for Collins Town Clerk

Having been endorsed by the Democratic and Conservative parties, Dawn Spires is seeking election to the office of Collins Town Clerk.

Spires is a graduate of Gowanda Central School, and attended JCC and Bryant and Stratton, majoring in accounting and paralegal studies. A notary public, she has been employed as a paralegal for the past 22 years. As such, she has been responsible for all paralegal, bookkeeping and office duties, including processing real estate transactions, creating and maintaining client files, as well as handling all financial transactions.

Her volunteer activities include serving as leader and treasurer of the Top Hats and Tails 4-H Club, and serving on the Supervisory Committee of the Gowanda Area Federal Credit Union. She also assists her parents in the operation of their horse and carriage business, Misty Ridge Carriage Services LLC.

Since her marriage in 1992, she has resided in Collins with her husband, Phillip, and son Benjamin, along with their German Shepherd and two Yellow Labs. Her interest in public service descends from a long line of family dedication to the Town of Collins, including her grandfather, Olaf Carlson, who served as town justice for nearly 30 years; her uncle, Paul Carlson, who served with the Collins Volunteer Fire Department until his death; and her mother, Mary Clark, who is seeking her fourth term on the town board.

Her extensive financial and legal office experience, as well as her organizational and communication skills, afford her the ability to maintain fiscal accountability, internal controls, confidentiality, and to effectively serve the residents of Collins. Spires is committed to the community, and pledges to be accessible and to work with the town board to implement policies executed by the board.
