Janet Vogtli announces candidacy for Collins Town Council

Janet L. Vogtli has been endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Indepen-dence party lines for town of Collins Councilman. She has already completed the National Incident Command Systems Training, a requirement for all elected officials.

Vogtli has been a successful business owner for more than 26 years. Her resume also includes eight years in Erie County government with a hand in various de-partments, including the Stop DWI Office, Emer-gency Services, County Legislature Office, Central Police Services and the Sheriff’s Office. She currently works for the New York State Court System. As an employee, one of her strongest assets has been her success in resolving challenging political, organizational and financial problems by establishing open communication with all parties involved.

Vogtli is a graduate of Gowanda Central School and she attended the State University of New York at Alfred.

As a Collins resident, Vogtli has lent her expertise to several local organizations, and currently serves on the advisory board of the Collins/Gowanda Correctional Facilities. In the past, she worked with the Gowanda Volunteer Fire Company on their new building project, served on the Erie Community College Board of Trustees from 1995 to 2006 and as president of the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce from 1991 to 1996. In 1996, Vogtli was named president of Gowanda Business and Professional Women, and in 2000 she was the chairman of the town of Collins Zoning Board. She also received the Chamber Service Award in 1996.

She and her husband, Joe, live on Bagdad Road. She has been a Collins resident for more than 26 years.

Vogtli’s goal is to use her diverse background in business and government to improve services for the residents of the town of Collins, while keeping taxes down. Some of the ways she plans to achieve this goal include working closely with surrounding municipalities to consolidate services and researching the reorganization of the Highway, Parks and Water Department into a department of Public Works.

Vogtli is a proven problem-solver and she has an in-depth working knowledge of government. Her dedication and drive have been demonstrated through her community involvement and the applicable and transferable experience she has gained through her past employment.
