Fredonia to hold Halloween Costume Parade Saturday
The Village of Fredonia and Town of Pomfret Recreation Department’s annual Halloween Costume Parade is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
The afternoon event will begin with floats, bands and costumed marchers parading south on Temple Street to Church Street.
Dave Giambrone has been named grand marshal by the Fredonia-Pomfret Parks Commission for this year’s community Halloween Costume Parade. Giambrone is being recognized for his past service at the Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department as a department director and for his continuing service on the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Individual marchers and organized groups are encouraged to participate in the parade and are asked to line up at 12:30 p.m. at the end of Risley Street. Prizes will be awarded to the best-judged entries.
Following the parade, cider and donuts will be served in the Barker Common Gazebo. Everyone is invited to participate.
Trick-or-treating will take place in the village and town from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. Parents are encouraged to tell their children not to trick-or-treat beyond 8 p.m. Residents are urged to turn porch lights off at 8 p.m., thus signaling further trick-or-treating will not be accepted.
