Fredonia HS ‘Pops Concert’ Wednesday
The Fredonia High School Music Program will present its annual Pops Concert on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Fredonia Central School District Auditorium.
Selections include Bye-Bye Birdie, Shrek, Aladdin, Earth, Wind and Fire, Pirates of the Caribbean and more. Ticket prices are $3 per adult. Students are admitted free of charge.
Friends of Barker Library to meet Tuesday
The annual meeting of the Friends of the Darwin R. Barker Library and its Board of Directors will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Steele Room of the library. After a business meeting, there will be information provided about the library’s book club and this year’s Big Read selection. The museum will be open that afternoon for browsing with light refreshments to follow.
Begun in 1977, the Friends of the Barker Library is a voluntary group that serves to provide needed funding for equipment and services not covered by other financial sources. The group welcomes anyone interested in joining; annual individual memberships are just $15. Forms for signing up are available at the main desk in the library. Breast Cancer Awareness
A Breast Cancer Aware-ness presentation will be held Tuesday at noon at the Valley Pharmacy & Medical Supplies, 31 West Main St., Gowanda.
Karen Furlani, NP, Breast Cancer Department of Roswell Park, will discuss the latest in breast cancer screening recommendations, research and treatment options. This presentation is sponsored by Lauralee Sprague, FNP, TLC Health Network and the Valley Pharmacy. This presentation is free to the public. There will be refreshments and Breast Cancer Month giveaways.
Friends of Anderson-Lee Library membership meeting Wednesday
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek will hold its annual membership meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the library. Offi-cers will be elected. Every-one is welcome to attend.
SUNY Fredonia Days of Service slated Nov. 2-9
One week, 20 projects, 500 volunteers. That is the slogan for SUNY Fredonia’s upcoming Days of Service Program, which is slated for Nov. 2-9.
Thousands of hours throughout the week will be spent by people giving back to local agencies who help others. All students, faculty and staff are welcome to volunteer.

Chicken and biscuit dinner Wednesday
A chicken and biscuit dinner will be held at the Portland Congregational Church Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. or sold out. The menu is chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, vegetable, dessert and drink. Take outs are available. The church is handicap accessible.
League of Women Voters to sponsor Meet the Candidates Tuesday
The League of Women Voters will sponsor Meet the Candidates on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the courtroom at Fredonia Village Hall. Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions of County Executive, County Clerk, Legislator for Districts 3, 4 and 5 and the Pomfret Town Board candidates. In accordance with the New York State Open Meetings Law, the public is hereby being notified that a special meeting of the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors has been canceled. The meeting was to be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
A special meeting of the Chautauqua County Capital Resource Corporation Board of Directors will be held at CCIDA, 200 Harrison St., Jamestown, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the board room.
Hanover Democrats’ election event Oct. 29
The Town of Hanover Democrats will host a Meet the Candidates event on Tuesday. The event will give the voters an opportunity to discuss the election with the candidates endorsed by the Democratic Party. Join us at 6 p.m. at the Silver Creek VFW. Collins Democratic Committee meeting
The Town of Collins Democratic Committee will meet Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the community room at the L.K. Painter Center, 2355 Main St., Collins, to discuss the Nov. 5 general election.
Attendees are asked to park in the rear parking lot. It is anticipated that county party officials and several candidates will be in attendance. All committee members and election inspectors, or those interested in serving in one of those capacities or learning about the political process, are asked to attend.
