‘Yule Catch the Spirit Holiday Open House’ Friday, Saturday
Participating businesses throughout the Village of Fredonia are opening their doors this weekend for the annual Yule Catch the Spirit Holiday Open House on Friday and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Each location will showcase its unique line of products and services to begin the holiday shopping season.
Shoppers can pick up a passport at any participating retailer and have it stamped at all nine shops to be entered in a very special grand prize drawing. Since each business has donated a $25 gift certificate good toward a future purchase, the grand prize totals $225 worth of gift certificates.
Barbara Sam, owner of TimePieces said, “We invite everyone to spend a day in Fredonia touring some of our downtown merchants. The shops will have been festively decorated and it promises to be a fun and lively shopping experience. You never know what treasures you’ll find for someone special on your list. This is a very important event for the merchants throughout the village. It is so important to support small businesses by shopping locally. We encourage everyone to shop locally this season, too, and keep downtown Fredonia alive and thriving!”
Visitors to each shop will also give receive a coupon to be used on a future purchase. Selected shops will display the unique works of visiting artists and crafters.
Feather Your Nest Interior Decorating Studio, 85 Cushing St., will host visiting artist Barbara Joy to showcase her beautiful arrangements and wall decor just in time for holiday decorating and entertaining. Feather Your Nest has a vast array of products and services including custom window treatments, wallpaper, bedding, area rugs, lighting, decorative accessories, seasonal decor, slipcovers, and pillows.
The White Inn, 52 E. Main Street, looks forward to hosting shoppers for lunch on Friday and Saturday during the event. Dine in and receive a coupon for a free beverage of choice good for a future dine-in meal. Now booking for holiday celebrations and 2014 weddings, The White Inn is a lovely opportunity to step back in time and enjoy a historic atmosphere while dining, having a beverage in the cozy tavern, or staying in one of their well-appointed rooms.
Two well known local crafters will be at TimePieces, 23 White St., to take personalized orders. Ginger Cardot will display knit items along with new designs of headband, earrings and home decor. Chanel Alessi Ziemba has created beautiful jewelry designs. New for this year is a vintage fabric line of wallets, headbands, cup holders and button earrings. This holiday season, TimePieces is featuring two inspiring children’s books that will be enjoyed by everyone, “The Christmas Pumpkin” and “The Christmas Angel.”
Fresh and Fancy Flowers and Gifts, 9 Eagle St., is a fresh and local alternative for all floral and gift-giving needs. Owner Charlotte Herlong has a talent for creating arrangements that are a lovely breath of fresh air. The establishment also has a lovely selection of gifts. Stop in to preorder holiday wreaths and table arrangements. From doorstep to treetop, and everything in between, Fresh and Fancy Flowers and Gifts is the best choice.
Satisfy a sweet tooth at The Cakery, 24 West Main St., with a delicious free dessert and hot cider. While tasting, browse through their holiday bake specials such as bakery baskets, cookie bouquets, gingerbread houses and holiday cookies and cakes. Each visitor will receive a free coupon for a cupcake in January. Also, bring in the ad from the paper for a coupon during the holidays.
As one of two new shops in town, The Boutique Palace at 6 Park Place, offers a variety of gifts such as one-of-a-kind clothing, shoes, accessories, luxury jewelry, souvenirs, and gift certificates.
Another new shop in town is Angels of Hope Healing and Learning Center, 8 Park Place, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the total healing of the mind, body and spirit. Various healing services such as Reiki healing, Quantum Touch, and Holistic wellness consultations are available by appointment. The inspirational angel art of Kati Russell will be featured as well as mini readings and healing sessions.
Herbs For Life Natural Health Emporium, 69 West Main St., will display holiday gift and decor items in an eclectic atmosphere. The visiting artist this year is Suzanne Lawrie from Suzanne’s Custom Jewelry who specializes in wire-wrapping, stone setting and pearl stringing.
