Jamestown man charged for alleged assault of child
JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man has been taken into custody after an investigation into the physical injury of a 1 year old.
On Oct. 24, Michael C. Olay, 35, was taken into custody after a Jamestown Police Department investigation revealed that Olay allegedly caused physical injury to a 1-year-old child left in his care and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The incident allegedly occurred at a residence in the city of Jamestown on Oct. 13 while the child’s mother was working. Olay was allegedly dating the child’s mother and babysitting at the time of the incident. According to Jamestown Police Department Captain Robert Samuelson, the child’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Olay has been charged with second-degree felony assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail after being arraigned. Child Protective Services assisted the Jamestown Police Department’s investigation.
Olay has been connected to another recent crime. In August, Olay was charged with two counts of petit larceny after it was alleged he left Wal-Mart with $110.84 worth of merchandise without paying. In July, police learned Olay allegedly exited Wal-Mart with a mountain bike without paying. He was issued appearance tickets to be in Busti Court at a later date.
