CCIDA hosts annual Energy Conference and Expo today, Saturday

MAYVILLE – The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency will host its 6th Annual Chautauqua County Energy Conference & Expo on Friday from 12:15 to 4:15 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Chautauqua Suites and Expo Center, 215 W. Lake Road in Mayville.

“The Chautauqua County Energy Conference & Expo has been a tremendous success in the past and this year’s event continues to inform residents and energy experts and enthusiasts about the latest information on energy technology and conservation,” said Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards.

The expo is free and open to the public and will feature vendor displays and seminars on the Future of Compressed and Liquefied Natural Gas, Marcellus and Utica Shale, Solar and Wind Power, and Energy Saving Ideas.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take in three of six panel discussions on Friday and four of seven panel discussions on Saturday. In addition, many of the panel discussions are offered both days, so visitors have the opportunity on Saturday to attend some of the discussions they may have missed on Friday.

Two different panel discussions are offered every hour and the schedule for Friday includes:

12:15 to 1: 15 p.m. – Seminar by Solar Liberty on solar power options for residential or commercial businesses and a seminar by National Fuel on the future of Compressed Natural Gas and Liquefied Natural Gas for vehicular uses.

1:45 to 2:45 p.m. – Seminar presented by Tom Fleckenstein and Padma Kasthurirangan of Niagara Wind & Solar about small wind power for commercial, farm, or residential uses and a seminar by Mary Hajdu on Utica Shale Drilling – Facts and Fiction of Geology and Property Leasing.

3:15 to 4:15 p.m. – Seminar by Dan Spencer of EverPower on commercial wind power farms within Chautauqua County and a seminar by David Flynn on Hydro fracking and understanding the facts and issues of Marcellus and Utica Shale.

The schedule for panel discussions on Saturday includes:

10 to 11 a.m. – Seminar by Tom Fleckenstein and Padma Kasthurirangan of Niagara Wind & Solar on small wind power for commercial, farm, or residential uses and a seminar by Mary Hajdu on Utica Shale Drilling-Facts and Fiction of Geology and Property Leasing.

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Seminar by Solar Liberty on Solar power options for residential or commercial businesses and a seminar by David Flynn on Hydro fracking and understanding the facts and issues of Marcellus and Utica Shale.

1 to 2 p.m. – Seminar by Derek Rieman of EDP on commercial wind power farms within Chautauqua County and a seminar by National Fuel on the future of compressed Natural Gas and Liquefied Natural Gas for vehicular uses.

2:30 to 3:30 p.m. -Panel Discussion on Residential Energy savings through conservation and low-cost maintenance ideas.
