Mary E. Majka

Mary E. Majka, 96, of Dunkirk, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, following a brief illness, at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk.

She was born October 11, 1917, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Jurczyk) Kolasa.

Mrs. Majka was a retired employee of the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk.

A parishioner of Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig, she was a former member of the St. Hedwig’s Church Choir.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews; among them are Nathalie Kolasa of Dunkirk, Beverly Polowy of Buffalo, Martha Bialaszewski of Dunkirk; great niece Jennifer (Gary) Mahan of North Tonawanda; great nephew Jeffery Polowy of Dunkirk; great great nephews Auston and Brandon Polowy of Wellsville; great great niece Brielle Mahan of No. Tonawanda.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Majka, who died May 23, 1983; sister Helen Krupinski; brothers Frank, Andrew, John, Louie, Raymond and Joe Kolasa.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk, today from 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
