Chautauqua Opportunities receives housing preservation grant
Chautauqua Opportuni-ties Inc. is the recent recipient of an award to operate a United States Department of Agriculture Rural Devel-opment Housing Preserva-tion Grant Program.
The funds are designated to assist low-income, single-family homeowners who reside in rural areas in Chautauqua County with repairs that may be causing a threat to health and safety.
COI will carry out substantial rehabilitation to the residences of six low-income homeowners in rural areas of Chautauqua County.
The types of rehabilitation include; roof repair and replacement, septic and water systems, heating systems, foundation repair, structural repair, lead paint stabilization, electrical wiring, energy and weatherization techniques, renovations to remove overcrowding, and handicap accessibility.
Eligible customers must own their homes and live in eligible rural areas to qualify.
The program will serve households that have incomes that are not more than 50 percent of the area median income for Chautauqua County.
