Twenty years ago – 1993

Love for her first horse, “Sunny,” has prompted Kathy Fleming of Fredonia to donate the animal for use by persons who take part in a therapeutic riding program near Westfield. Mrs. Fleming said she could not bear to see Sunny, a 23-year-old sorrel gelding, standing idly at her horse farm, Sunny Acres. She began searching for a way for Sunny to stay active and found it with Centaur Stride, a new therapeutic riding center owned and operated by Harry and Claudia Monroe. The facility is located on Jones Road in Westfield.

Thirty years ago – 1983

William Ridinger, Harold Kilmer, Robert Bates Sr., Robert Bates Jr., and Arcadio Gonzalez were all elected to the West Main Street Baptist Church board of directors.

The Fredonia State University College Choir was honored when members were invited to perform at the first annual New York Christmas Music Festival at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.
