FHS honors PRIDE?students

Fredonia High School recently honored its PRIDE students. The selected students werea nominated by one or more teachers based on demonstration of the characteristics of PRIDE.(Participation, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence).

Tyler Cloos is the PRIDE Student of the Month for ninth grade. Tyler is the son of Kevin and Sharon Cloos. Tyler’s favorite subject in school is math. His hobbies, sports, and activities include basketball, soccer and swimming in the summer. Tyler plans to go to college to become a math teacher and to play soccer.

Tyler’s favorite teacher is “Mr. Paschke because he makes the class fun and interesting and he always make us laugh.” The person that Tyler most admires is “my grandfather, because he has always been there for me when I needed him the most”. The most important thing Tyler has learned in school is “with hard work and dedication I can achieve the goals that I set.”

Gwen Stokes is the PRIDE Student of the Month for tenth grade. Gwen is the granddaughter of Thomas and Jennifer Stokes. Her favorite subjects in school are science and math. Her hobbies, sports, and activities include cross country, indoor and outdoor track, Student Council and Key Club.

Gwen doesn’t have a favorite teacher because she has liked all of her teachers. The most important thing Gwen has learned in school is “try your hardest and don’t give up.”

Noah Dake is the PRIDE Student of the Month for eleventh grade. Noah is the son of Dan and Dawn Dake. Noah’s favorite subjects in school are computers, art, math and history. His hobbies, sports, and activities include drawing, fishing, bowling and computers. Noah may study computer graphics following high school.

Noah’s favorite teachers are “Mrs. Terrill and Mr. Bertrando because I like their personalities they’re fun.” The most important thing Noah has learned in school is “the use of a computer and trigonometry because they are required for computer graphics.”

Jacinda Mekus is the PRIDE Student of the Month for twelfth grade. Jessie is the granddaughter of Jane Lilly. Her favorite subject in school is art. Her hobbies, sports, and activities include basketball, cheerleading and being on the list of Distinguished Young Women. Jessie plans to attend college at either SUNY Cortland or SUNY Plattsburgh and do an internship at Disney.

Jessie’s favorite teacher is “Mrs. Terrill because she is always there to help me and push me. Mr. Lauer too, because he knows I struggle with physics and is always there to help me whenever I need it”.

The person that Jessie most admires is “Martin Luther King, Jr. because he fought for what he believed in and believed everyone should be equal. I agree; he was inspirational to all.” The most important thing Jessie has learned in school is “your high school years go by fast. I’ve learned to make the most of them. I’ve also learned that your junior and senior years are the most important years, because these two years help you the most with graduation and college searches.”
