Interstate 86 crash leaves one dead, injures another

NORTH HARMONY-A two-car accident claimed the life of an Ohio man on Interstate 86 this afternoon.
Thomas Erickson, 57, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, was driving a Chrysler Pacifica, traveling west on Interstate 86 near exit seven when he veered off the south side shoulder and crossed over into eastbound traffic at 3:36 p.m. His vehicle struck a Jeep Cherokee driven by Barbara Kubiak, 52, of Bradford, Pa., police said.
Erickson was taken to WCA Hospital in Jamestown, where he was pronounced dead.
Kubiak, who was complaining of chest pains, was flown by helicopter to Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.
The investigation is ongoing.
Responded to the scene were: Ashville Fire Department, Bemus Point Fire Department, Sherman Fire Department, Alstar Ambulance, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police.
