ESL class hosts cultural events

The English as a Second Language class at the Central Avenue Commun-ity Learning Center recently hosted two cultural events during the month of September.

Newly enrolled students from Saudi Arabia hosted a breakfast for their classmates, which included traditional pastries, coffee and tea.

The following week, Ghada Bu Saeed, a SUNY Fredonia graduate student, gave a presentation on the Saudi Arabian government, culture and religion.

She was assisted by her father, Salem Bu Saeed, who is enrolled in the ESL class.

The presentation was followed by a question and answer period.

Both events were attended by students from the ESL class, as well as the high school equivalency preparation class and CACLC staff members.

The CACLC is located at 324 Central Ave., in Dunkirk. It is operated by Erie2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES and serves adult learners interested in attending ESL and high school equivalency classes.
