BMH Auxiliary hears from speech therapist
The Auxiliary of Brooks Memorial Hospital met recently at Shorewood Country Club for the October Lunch and Learn Program.
Alona Forbes introduced the guest speaker, Natalie Hobbs, who is a speech therapist at Lake Shore Hospital. Hobbs explained the various therapies that come under the heading of speech therapy: swallowing therapy, stuttering therapy, articulation therapy, voice therapy, language therapy and cognitive therapy. She then answered questions of those present.
Announcements were made about upcoming events sponsored by the Auxiliary. Lobby Sales will be held in the Brooks Memorial Hospital lobby from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. featuring the following: Pottery by Cynthia Fitzgerald, Burning Asphalt Sauces and Silpada Jewelry on Nov. 21; Black Thorn Basketry, Blessings Everywhere Painted by Shelly and Park Lane Jewelry on Nov. 22; Books are Fun on Dec. 16 and 17. As always, the public is welcome and encouraged to support these sales.
On Dec. 6 at 7 p.m., the Tree of Lights Celebration will be held at Brooks Memorial Hospital. The tree on the roof will be lighted, refreshments will be served in the lobby and caroling will be heard throughout the halls. The brochure announcing this annual event will be in the mail shortly.
The next Lunch and Learn Program, which is open to the public, will be held at Shorewood Country Club on Jan. 22, 2014, at noon. The cost is $12. Guest speaker will be Tammy Kiszak, a physical therapist at Brooks Memorial Hospital,who is also certified in Balance Training.
