Ernest V. Rupert Jr.

Ernest Victor Rupert Jr. 89, of Bay Minette, AL passed away Thursday November 14, 2013 at his home.

He was born January 17, 1924 in DuBois, PA to Rev. Ernest Victor Rupert Sr. and Gertrude Elizabeth Donaldson.

Graduating from South Dayton, NY High School, he entered Officer’s Candidate School and the Merchant Marines, serving during WWII. Vic was proud of his service in the military and his country and was delighted to participate in an Honor Flight to our nation’s Capitol in Washington, DC. He was a retiree from True Temper Corp. in Dunkirk, NY.

Some of his memberships included Fredonia Volunteer Fire Dept. and its Drum and Bugle Corps, Elks Lodge #922, The VFW, Past Master of Lodge #166 F&AM, Masonic Lodge #498, The Scottish Rite, the Shriners and its Drum and Bugle Corps, and as a past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. Vic was an avid golfer.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fredonia serving as a trustee and on various committees within the church. Upon retirement, he and his wife Oleah relocated to Bay Minette where he was an active member in the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Marjorie A. Ames Rupert; and a sister Alice R. Emad.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Oleah King Rupert; daughters Sylvia Barber of Pensacola, FL, Cynthia Bergeron and Bridget MeDonagh of W. Roxbury MA; son Ernest Vistor Rupert III (Lynne) of Mobile, AL; sisters Marie Reinhoudt of Fredonia, NY, Arlene Summerhill of Reno, NV, Marjorie Burke, of Morrisonvillle, NY; brothers David Rupert, Masury, OH and Mark Rupert of Sun City Center, FL; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Bay Minette with Reverend Ed Deabler officiating.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the church service. Burial with military honors will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.

The family is requesting memorials be made in Vic’s memory to the Building Fund of the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 338, Bay Minette, AL 36507.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Rev. Ed Deabler and the church family of the First United Methodist Church, Dr. Gary Kolb and Gentiva Hospice of Bay Minette for all their love and support.

Vic was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
