CYO looking for public support for Christmas basket project
With Christmas fast approaching, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Youth Organization is beginning to prepare for its annual Christmas Basket Project.
Each year, the youth group provides food and gifts for up to 160 needy families from the area. Last Christmas, the youth group was able to assist approximately 650 adults and children from the area.
The CYO relies on the generous contributions of the community to support this tremendous endeavor. Approximately $10,000 needs to be raised to fund the project.
On Sunday, Nov. 24, the SEAS CYO will have a “Fill the Stocking” drive and homemade cookie sale at Walmart. Monetary, food and gift donations are greatly appreciated.
Beginning Monday, Dec. 2 through Dec. 16, 2013, the CYO will be accepting applications for Christmas baskets.
To request a basket, the only phone number to call is 363-6080. When calling this number, be patient with regard to someone calling back to take applications. Call volume is extremely heavy in the first week.
The baskets will be put together and distributed on Dec. 20-22, 2013. Volunteers are needed to assist with the weekend of Christmas Baskets.
Those who wish to volunteer to help with this wonderful event (the CYO needs many hands!) or make a donation, can contact Carol Smith, Project Coordinator, at 366-5908.
