Wreaths for sale to benefit Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels will sell fresh wreaths and centerpieces as a fundraiser to help them provide services to those in need. Each 12-14″ fresh wreath is a mix of Frasier, white pine and Douglas greenery; includes one red bow, three white-tipped pine cones and a cluster of red berries; and costs $20. A larger 20-22″ wreath with added berry clusters is $25. They may be picked up on Dec. 6 at the Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels, 200 Lake Shore Drive W. in Dunkirk.

Fresh evergreen centerpieces, each approximately 15 x 12 x 6″ with a mix of Frasier, Douglas and white pine greenery; two red candles, two red bows and two groupings of artificial red berries, costs $22. These will be ready for pickup at the Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels on Dec. 17. All order forms with check or cash are due Dec. 1. Mail to Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels. Town calendars still available in Fredonia

Town of Pomfret Histor-ian Todd Langworthy has announced that the last quantity of his 2014 Fredo-nia-Pomfret History Calen-dars is now available at The Paper Factory on East Main Road in Fredonia.

The calendars feature a different historical picture and description each month, to provide a brief glimpse of our area’s past throughout the coming year. The calendars make great holiday gifts for anyone interested in local history and eager to learn about the past.

Past year’s calendars have sold out, so shoppers are urged to pick up their copies as soon as possible to avoid being shut out this year. Each year is an all-new calendar, so if you have purchased one in the past this year’s calendar is packed full of great new stories of the past.”

Elks to hold annual memorial service

The Dunkirk Elks Lodge 922 will hold its annual Memorial Service on Sunday. The service will be held at the Lodge at 428 Central Ave. in Dunkirk at noon. All members are invited to attend. Coffee and donuts will be served following the service.

Silver Creek garbage pickup to be delayed

Garbage pickup in the village of Silver Creek will be delayed from Thursday to Friday due to the Thanks-giving holiday. The village clerk’s office will also be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday.

Silver Creek Village Board workshop

The workshop of the Silver Creek Village Board will begin earlier than usual Monday. The board will host Kelly Borrello, a member of Chautauqua County Executive-elect Vince Horrigan’s transition team, at 6:30 p.m. in the village hall. The regular workshop and meeting will immediately follow this presentation.
