Silver Creek VFW will remember Pearl Harbor Day
SILVER CREEK – Pearl Harbor Day Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Silver Creek VFW Samuel Cimino Post 6472, 13 N. Main St.
The public is invited and welcome to attend a special ceremony for the 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day. The commemoration and memorial service will start at 11 a.m. to honor those Navy, Army, Marines and all military personnel and civilians who lost their lives on that day that lives in infamy.
The ceremonies begin with a short history of the events leading up to the attack, then the Bosun’s Pipe will bellow out “All Hands!,” along with the symbolic ringing of a ship’s bell. These lasting tributes to our deceased veterans give recognition and ceremony to those that served their country. The Honor Guard in close order drill, will fire three times each with their MI rifles to provide a 21-gun volley for the deceased veterans. The finale will be the playing of “Taps” by the post’s bugler.
Following will be a wreath laying ceremony on the shores of Lake Erie to honor those military personnel and civilians who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941.
Remember to fly the United States Flag Saturday at half mast from sunrise to sunset.
