Gowanda falls in title game of Joylan Theatre tourney

GOWANDA – Western New York Maritime Charter used a 21-6 run in the second quarter to hold off Gowanda, 53-50, Saturday in the championship game of the Joylan Theatre Tipoff Tournament.

Maritime Charter was led by Joe Adeleke’s 19 points and Isiah Padin’s 15.

The Panthers had a chance to tie the score, but free throws doomed the home team.

After Gowanda took an 11-8 lead after the first quarter, Maritime Charter went on a 21-6 run to take a 29-17 halftime lead.

The Panthers battled back with a 20-12 third-quarter run and had the lead with 1:30 left to play. However, Maritime Charter’s Damon Glenn drained a 3-pointer in the final minute to give the visitors the lead, and ultimately the win.
