Liberty Vineyards brings home California gold
SHERIDAN – Liberty Vineyards & Winery, of Sheridan, earned a number of prestigious medals at the 23rd Annual Grand Harvest Awards held in November in Santa Rosa, Calif.
“This unique wine competition that was started by my family in 1990 showcases the diverse terroirs from around the United States,” said Robert Merletti, President and Publisher of Vineyard & Winery Management. “We are proud to be working with the entire American wine industry and helping in the research and promotion of all its regions.”
Liberty Vineyards won 16 medals at the competition, including gold medals for its 2012 Chardonnay and 2011 Traminette wines.
“We are very pleased with the results of the 2013 Grand Harvest Awards and the timing couldn’t be better – especially for the Chardonnay and Traminette, which both won gold medals and are fantastic wines to serve at holiday parties and Christmas dinner. Traminette is a great semi-dry wine that goes really well with a variety of dishes including ham and turkey. Our Chardonnay is a dry white with a great balance of fruit and oak notes that will complement lots of foods,” said Beth Margolis, Marketing and Special Events Manager at Liberty Vineyards.
In addition to the Gold medals for Traminette and Chardonnay, Liberty’s Richter Red, Purple Haze, Chocolette, Cool Cat, Cat Noir, Marquette, Diamond, Fredonia, Trifection and White Side of the Moon wines were all awarded silver medals, while the winery’s 2010 Barrel-Select Noiret, 2012 Pinot Grigio, 2012 Dry Riesling and 2011 Riesling all received bronze medals.
“The wines that received awards really represent the diversity of wines we produce here at Liberty. Everything from elegant dry wines like Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Dry Riesling, Barrel-Select Noiret and Marquette to some of our fun wines like Purple Haze, which is made from Concord grapes, and White Side of the Moon, made from Niagara grapes won awards. We are also pleased that our specialty dessert wines, Chocolette and Cool Cat, both received medals,” said Pam Burmaster who owns the winery with her husband, Gary.
