Memories from the ‘40s

For Christmas in World War II, I received a light blue girls “Victory Bike” with tall wheels. Since there was a shortage of rubber the wheels were thin. That was when I was 8 years old.

Also there were homemade Christmas cookies (sugar) made and frosted. We also had homemade chocolate and peanut butter fudge. Dad cut a hemlock tree from the woods for our Christmas tree. Special memories of ice skating on a gravel pit with special friends are precious memories.

What I don’t care for now is people shoving to get an article on sale. Hurry and grab everything but the true Christmas Spirit!
