Forfeits lead WPCL to win over Maple Grove in Division II meet

BEMUS POINT – Westfield-Panama-Chautauqua Lake’s wrestling team took advantage of seven wins by forfeit Wednesday night as it edged Maple Grove, 47-28, in CCAA Division II wrestling action.

In matches not decided by forfeit, WPCL’s Nick Hudson won at 126 pounds, 15-0, over Maple Grove’s Zak Trim.

Elsewhere for the Panthers, Derek Ecklund (113), Mark Ecklund (132), Trent Howard (138), Tyler Furlow (195), Alex Swan (220), D.J. Hamrick (285) and Garrett Fransen (99) all won by forfeit.

For the Red Dragons, Trevor Micek (145) won a 4-2 decision over Kale Gilbert, Brian Westerdahl (152) pinned Damian Raynor in 5:52 and Jed Micek (160) pinned Dylan Gross in 3:06. Also for Maple Grove, T.J. Bihler won a major decision over Dominique Rammelt, 14-3, and A.J. Putt topped Bryce Rowe, 5-0, to win the match at 106.
