Rose DiPasquale Russo Colatarci

Rose DiPasquale Russo Colatarci, 97, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2013, in Indian Trail, NC.

She was born in Westfield, NY and called many places home including Dunkirk, NY, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Boca Raton, FL and Indian Trail, NC.

She was married to Ross Russo, Sr. on June 10, 1939. They were married 42 years until his passing. In Dunkirk, NY, they owned and operated an appliance store on Fourth Street. On October 26, 1984, Rose married Mario Colatarci and was happily married to him for 22 years until his passing.

During World War II, Rose worked in Van Raalte silk factory sewing gloves. In later years, she worked for Montgomery Ward and retired from K-Mart in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Rose was a long time member of Holy Trinity parish in Dunkirk, NY. She was a member of the “Children of Mary” and secretary of the Blessed Sacra-ment Society. In Boca Raton, FL, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc parish, and also a member of St. John Neumann parish in Charlotte, NC.

She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing and crocheting. In recent years, reading became her passion. Her favorite television programs were always news related as it was important for her to be current on world events. She always read the newspaper from front to back – reading the comics first.

Rose loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. She had a knack for getting to know you in just a few minutes, was a friend to everyone and became your friend for life. Her amazing sense of humor was envied. She had a charitable and kind heart and loved her family beyond measure. Although in chronic pain for over 30 years, she never once complained or slowed down. She simply said she would rather “burnout NOT rust out.”

Rose was a woman of strong faith and strong character. She was more worried about burdening her family than the cancer that claimed her.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Nancy Graziano DiPasquale; her siblings, Anthony, Phyllis and Sarah DiPasquale, Hazel Billitere, Josephine Federico; her husband, Ross Russo, Sr.; her husband, Mario Colatarci; daughter, Nancy Russo Palmer; her son, Ross Russo, Jr., and her infant grandson, Lawrence Strawser, Jr.
