DEC to switch to an automated licensing system

The Department of Environmental Conservation will switch to a new automated licensing system beginning Dec. 26.

Starting that day, there will be a blackout period to license sales and game harvest reporting. Hunters, anglers and trappers need to purchase licenses, stamps and permits and register for recreational marine fishing prior to Friday, Dec. 26.

Hunters will be given a grace period to report their harvest of animals taken during a blackout period, which will last for about one week, while the new automated system is up and running.

Portland Board of Commissioners to meet

Special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Portland Fire District will be held on Monday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. at the fire hall to conduct year end business and address any other business that may come before the board.
