Sheridan clerk’s office to be closed today through Thursday

The Sheridan Town Clerk’s Office is closed today, Wednesday and Thursday in observance of Christmas.

Silver Creek Clerk’s Office holiday hours

The Silver Creek Village Clerk’s Office will be open from 8 a.m to noon today (Christmas Eve) and New Year’s Eve. The office will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

No rubbish pickup

in city Wednesday

Dunkirk City Hall will be closed today and Wednes-day in observance of Christ-mas Eve and Christmas.

There will be no rubbish pickup Wednesday. Resi-dents in District C will have their rubbish picked up Thursday; residents in Dis-trict A will have their rubbish picked up Friday; and residents in District D will have their rubbish picked up Saturday.

Limited operation Friday for County

government offices

Chautauqua County government offices will have limited operations Friday. Some telephone service, email and operations software will be unavailable. Residents should keep scheduled appointments, but “walk-in” service may be unavailable in many offices. This affects most all departments and locations.

Emergency services (911), CARTS bus routes, County Airport operations, County Home telephone service, and in-person counter service at Division of Motor Vehicles offices should not be affected. Contact the County switchboard at 753-4000 with any questions.

All Buffalo area Post Offices open Christmas Eve

All Buffalo area Post Offices will be open today, but all will close at noon except the Buffalo Main Post Office as 1200 William St., open until 5 p.m.

Regular mail delivery and blue collection boxes having final collection times before noon will not be affected by these changes today. However, collection boxes with final collection times scheduled after noon will be collected by noon.

Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. Customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS for information about specific Post Office hours.

Restricted Highways

Poland Center Road, between State Route 394 and State Route 62 in the Town of Poland is closed due to flooding. This closure shall remain in effect until barricades are removed.

Water Street, between State Route 394 and Elmwood Avenue, in the Town of Ellicott is closed due to flooding. This closure shall remain in effect until barricades are removed.

Kabob Road ,between Route 380 and Waterman Road, in the Town of Stockton is closed due to flooding. This closure shall remain in effect until the water recedes.

Ross Mills Road, between Route 380 and Gerry-Levant Road, in the Town of Ellicott is closed due to flooding. This closure shall remain in effect until the water recedes.

Free ice skating to be sponsored by Fredonia-Pomfret Rec. Dept.

The Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department will sponsor free ice skating for village and town children and their families in SUNY Fredonia’s Steele Hall during the winter season.

Ice skating will take place between 10:45 and 11:45 a.m. on the following dates: this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; Jan. 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26; and Feb. 1, 2, 8 and 9.

DEC to switch

to an automated licensing system

The Department of Envir-onmental Conservation will switch to a new automated licensing system Thursday.

Starting that day, there will be a blackout period to license sales and game harvest reporting.

Hunters, anglers and trappers need to purchase licenses, stamps and permits and register for recreational marine fishing prior to Friday.

Hunters will be given a grace period to report their harvest of animals taken during a blackout period, which will last for about one week, while the new automated system is up and running.
