Evans police probe fatal

EVANS – The town of Evans Police Accident Investigation Unit is probing a fatal motor vehicle versus train collision.

According to a report from the Evans Police Department, police and fire dispatchers received a call about a collison at the crossing on Eden Evans Center Road near Delamater Road Tuesday at 1:06 p.m.

Evans Police, the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company and Rural Metro Medical Services were dispatched to the scene.

First responders found a single vehicle versus train collision along the Norfolk Southern tracks. The driver of the motor vehicle was fatally injured. The operator’s name is being withheld, pending notification of family.

The Highland Hose, North Evans and Lake Erie Beach Fire Companies, Norfolk Southern Railroad, Norfolk Southern Police and Evans Mechanical Services also responded.

Search continues for missing woman

GOWANDA – Authorities are continuing their search for a missing Gowanda woman.

Kimberly A. Militello, 59, was last seen at her residence, 10527 Maltbie Road, Sunday evening. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a gray long-sleeve T-shirt with black lettering. She is believed to be on foot.

Pennsylvania man charged with DWI

following accident

SHERMAN – A Pennsylvania man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a one-vehicle accident Christmas Eve.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel P. Hido, 25, of Girard, Pa., was the operator of a vehicle that left the roadway on I-86 at 7:04 p.m.

It was found that Hido was allegedly intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or more and moving from lane unsafely.

He will appear in Sherman Town Court at a later date.
