Lake effect snow advisory expires this morning
The snowy weather that fell Thursday should end later this morning.
The National Weather Service’s lake effect snow advisory is scheduled to end this morning at 10 o’clock.
Meteorologist Aaron Reynolds said the strong lake effect band will bring 3 to 5 inches of snow in the region.
“The weather will warm up a little until Sunday,” he said. “Arctic air will sweep across the lake and cause another lake effect band for New Year’s.”
According to the National Weather Service, Dunkirk/Jamestown has accumulated 41 inches of snowfall so far for the months of November and December.
Reynolds said people should drive safely and as always keep an emergency travel kit in the car just in case they get stuck.
“There will be poor visibility and slick spots,” he said. “People should leave plenty of braking room and drive slow.”
There were no weather-related accidents reported.
