Marilyn A. Wasmund

CATTARAUGUS, NY Marilyn A. Wasmund, 80, of Eden Heights in Olean, formerly of 78 Jefferson St. in Cattaraugus, NY, passed away Dec. 24, 2013 at Ole-an General Hospital.

She was born July 6, 1933 in Otto, NY, the daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Maus) Botsford.

On May 4, 1953 she married David Wasmund, who predeceased her on Dec. 10, 2006.

Mrs. Wasmund was employed at the Corner Drug Store in Cattaraugus, NY for 33 years.

She was a member of St. John’s UCC Church in Cattaraugus, Cattaraugus Fireman’s Women’s Unit and its Treasurer and a Town of New Albion Councilwomen, all for many years. She also was a member of and Past President of the Cattaraugus Ambulance Service since 1955, Civic League, Skyline Pool, Little Valley American Legion Auxiliary and the Let’s Travel Club. She also was an avid bowler and Euchre player.

Mrs. Wasmund is survived by a son, Ronald (Bet-ty) Wasmund of Otto, NY; and 3 daughters, Lynda (Terry) Bradley of East Otto, NY, Sharon Feely of Olean, NY and Wende Porter of Orchard Park, NY; and 5 granddaughters Sheila (Wirt Smith) Johnston of Cattaraugus, Deven(Eric) Adams of Ravenna, Ohio, Jessica(David) Hojnacki of Gowanda, NY, Renee (Keegan Lachut) Allen of Buffalo, NY and Brittany Porter of Orchard Park, NY; 3 grandsons, Samuel (Jessica) Johnston of Springville, NY, Chad (Jen-nifer) Wasmund of North Tonawanda, NY and Ni-cholas Feely of Ladylake, FL and 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Robert (Fay) Botsford of Cattaraugus, NY and Marvin (Alix) Bots-ford of Seminole, OK; a sis-ter, Jeanette Firth of California; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mae Eleanor Nuse.

Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc. 411 Rock City St. in Little Valley, NY today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday Dec. 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. from St. John’s UCC Church in Cattaraugus, NY.

Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery.
