Stanley Tyma Jr.
SOUTH DAYTON – Stanley Tyma Jr., 76, a therapy aide for Gowanda State Hospital, where he worked for over 30 years, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
He was born December 02, 1937 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Stanley and Hattie (Dusszynska) Tyma, Sr.
Stan also worked at the South Dayton Meat Market for a number of years as a butcher. He was a member of the South Dayton American Legion Post 1593. Stan was raised Catholic and attended the St. John Fisher RC Church for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict having attained the rank of SP4 E4 (T). Enlisted on November 16, 1960 at Salamanca, NY; discharged on November 15, 1962 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife Shirley A. (Killock) Tyma of South Dayton, NY, whom he married on September 28, 1963 in the St. John Fisher RC Church; one son, Stanley A. (Diane) Tyma III of Fredonia, NY; a daughter, Christina M. Tyma of South Dayton, NY; two grandsons, Joshua A. Tyma of Gowanda, NY, Douglas C. Tyma of Buffalo, NY; two granddaughters, Richelle L. Tyma of Fredonia, NY, Jocelyn M. Tyma of South Dayton, NY; and a brother, Richard Tyma of South Dayton, NY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Catherine Lynn Tyma; and four sisters, Dorothy Jarvis, Irene Milligan, Lucy Grover, and Nancy Fairbanks.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 2-5 P.M.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, So. Dayton, NY. The Rev. Matt Wittenbrook of South Dayton Free Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery in Forestville.
