Fire damages Silver Creek mobile home

SILVER CREEK – A fire caused damage to a mobile home located at 96 Andrews Circle Friday afternoon. According to Brandyn Griewisch, third assistant chief for Silver Creek Fire Department, the initial call came out shortly before 12:15 p.m.

“There was front heavy smoke coming out of the mobile home which the occupants were not at home,” Griewisch said.

The occupants, a mother and young daughter, are being helped by the American Red Cross. The fire was contained to a bathroom and bedroom at the back of the residence and was extinguished within an half hour due to an interior attack by firefighters.

“The fire was out in about 20 minutes. We left there with the fire investigation team at 4 p.m.,” said Griewisch. “All equipment was back by 2 p.m.”

The investigation is ongoing but according to the fire department, the fire was started due to a heat source located near combustible material. Griewisch said there was water damage contained to the back portion of the residence but smoke damage was more widespread. No injuries were reported.

Also assisting Silver Creek was Sunset Bay Fire Company, Sheridan Fire Department, Forestville Fire Department, Rescue 71 from Chautauqua County and the county fire investigation team.
