Clothing effort warms hearts

Editor, OBSERVER:

On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Girl Scouts of Silver Creek and the First United Church on Park Place went well above the “I will do my best!”

They warmed up a lot of people with their “winter type – keep you warm clothing” giveaway.

Silver Creek is a lot warmer environment because of all their efforts!

Pride in a job well done!

Mammograms are mandatory

Editor, OBSERVER:

I am writing this letter for two reasons.

First, if you know someone who has not had their yearly mammogram, please encourage them to do so. If you love someone who has not had their yearly mammogram, drag them kicking and screaming to the nearest screening facility. Please do not follow my bad example and neglect this important procedure. If I would have had my mammograms yearly, I would not have had to undergo chemotherapy and radiation.

Secondly, I would like to publicly acknowledge Dr. Theresa Pagliuca and the entire staff of the Jamestown WCA Cancer Treatment Center. Their professionalism, kindness, and compassion will never be forgotten. I would recommend this amazing facility to anyone who needs radiation therapy.

Quick action made difference

Editor, OBSERVER:

On Dec. 21, about 8:30 p.m. at 32 N. Ermine, 911 was called for a furnace and electrical fire in the back of the house.

Four Dunkirk fire companies responded before my wife could hang up and get out. The fast response and action of these brave low funded men saved my home, family and pets, especially Oscar our 13- year-old tortoise who I was trying to get to when they arrived but flames and smoke blocked my attempts.

From my family and myself thank you and God bless you!
