Gun reported on Swan Street just days after shooting

The Dunkirk Police Department has confirmed to the OBSERVER that a gun was displayed at or near 420 Swan St. around midnight Sunday morning.

Officials are currently investigating the incident and are collecting statements from individuals apparently at the scene.

This comes just days after a shooting occurred near 426 Swan St. Wednesday morning. Police are still investigating the case and have not released any new developments. An intensive search for Traiquane C. Nance, 24, is still under way.

Police were hoping that with the release of his name to the media, Nance would have turned himself in.

He is believed to have shot a male resident at 426 Swan St. in his right hip after the resident allegedly went outside to stop some sort of vandalism that was occurring in the street.

A warrant has been issued for Nance’s arrest. Nance is charged with second-degree assault (a Class D felony) and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Anyone with any information regarding the shooting, or the whereabouts of Nance, is asked to call Dunkirk Police at 366-2266, or their confidential tip line at 363-0313.
