Silver Creek: Cool experience brings in bucks

Once you get past the chill factor and some entertaining costumes, you realize the heart-warming results.

For the 13th year, the Polar Bear Swim for charity raised a significant amount of money for some worthy regional causes. “I feel cold and numby, but it’s for a good cause,” swimmer Tanya Siragusa said after emerging from the water.

In all, 78 braved the Lake Erie waters and more than $15,000 was raised for Variety Kids (Women & Children’s Hospital), the Silver Creek Food Pantry, the Sunset Bay Fire Department and the Silver Creek Rescue Squad.
