Lady Hillbillies edge Lady Golden Falcons

FALCONER – The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies are on a tear in CCAA West I girls basketball after winning their last three matchups to improve to 6-0 in the league and 8-1 overall.

On Saturday, Fredonia picked up its second consecutive win over Falconer (2-6, 3-7) after a 55-49 victory.

Morgan Genovese and Hannah Cybart led the way on offense for Fredonia, finishing with 14 and 18 points, respectively.

Caitlyn Cybart also had a solid outing for the Lady Hillbillies, totaling seven points and seven boards in the win while Madison Abram managed four points along with seven boards.

Emma Steele led the way for Falconer with 10 points, five assists and a pair of blocks. Julia Anderson also put up good numbers with nine points and five boards, and Alyssa Brooks had seven points and ten rebounds.


Pine Valley 78, Forestville 10

SOUTH DAYTON – The Pine Valley Lady Panthers (10-1, 4-0) handed the Forestville Lady Hornets a major blow Saturday with a 78-10 victory in CCAA East II girls basketball matchup.

Pine Valley jumped out to a 24-0 lead after one quarter and took a 51-1 lead into the half en route to a 68-point win.

Kayla Mansfield led all scorers with 16 points while adding 10 rebounds and 11 steals to pick up the triple-double. Aaren Waterman added 13 points in the win.

Alisha Szumigala led Forestville with 10 points and four rebounds.

Pine Valley is set to take on Chautauqua Lake at home on Tuesday.
