Gardner picks up pin in?Fredonia defeat

OLEAN – Dakota Gardner continued his stellar season and was a bright spot in Fredonia’s (9-7) 55-18 loss to Olean on Tuesday in Division 1 high school wrestling.

Gardner earned a pin over Josh Rodman in just :56 to increase his record to 27-1 this season.

“He is looking good,” Fredonia assistant coach Ross Conti said. “He should be in pretty good shape down the stretch.”

At 152, Fredonia’s Jeff Plaister had a 5-4 decision over Dave Reed while teammate Jake Rinus won his match at 182 over Jordan McLaughlin, 3-1.

Conti also noted the effort of Ryan Fisk at 195. Despite his loss, Conti feels Fisk is on the verge of picking up some wins.

“He is losing matches by two or three points,” Conti said. “He is going to turn the corner at some point.”

Fredonia returns to action today when it hosts Gowanda.
