Dorothy K. Herman

PERRYSBURG – Dorothy K. Herman of Fox Run, Orchard Park, formerly of Townline Road, Perrysburg passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at Fox Run, the place she called home for the last few years. Dorothy passed away surrounded by family a few months short of her 100th birthday. She was 99.

Born April 8, 1914 in Buffalo, the only daughter of Nicholas and Matilda (Heidle) Fiden. Her brothers William, Frederick and Richard Fiden all preceded her in death.

Dorothy married John J. Herman in Buffalo April 18, 1936. John passed away February 4, 1994.

Dorothy was a Senior Companion for the JN Adam Hospital for many years. She also was very involved and active with the LK Painter Center in Collins when her health permitted.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Herman, who was like a daughter to her; grandchildren John J. (Lisa) Herman of Williamsville, Karen (Thomas) Laudico of Orchard Park and Joseph (Nicole) Herman of Gowanda along with great grandchildren John and Alexandra Herman, Thomas, Daniel and Thomas Laudico, Cole and Blake Herman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her parents and brothers, Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen M. Herman (Oct. 15, 1949) and a son John W. Herman (March 6, 2004).

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda from 4-7 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 25, 2014 @10 a.m. from St. Joseph’s RC Church, 90 East Main St., Gowanda (assemble at church) Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery Cheektowaga.
