Stella T. Jalowiec
PERRYSBURG – Stella T. Jalowiec, age 93, of Jolls Road passed away Thursday Jan. 23, 2014 at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility where she had been for a short time.
Born at home in Buffalo NY, Oct. 27, 1920, the daughter of the late Anthony and Angeline (Woztasiewicz) Jalowiec.
Stella married Stanley A. Jalowiec in Buffalo on Nov. 4, 1939. Stan passed away May 20, 1966.
An attendant/therapy aide for the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, Stella retired in 1982 after nearly 30 years of state service. In 1967, she was named “Attendant of The Year.” Stella was proud of this recognition given to her by the facility.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Go-wanda.
Survivors include 3 sons, Gerald Jalowiec, Stanley A. (Yumi) Jalowiec Jr. of Gowanda and Donald E. Jalowiec of Perrysburg; grandchildren Sherry, Steve (Tiffany) James and Jesse; great grandchildren Kayla, Bryan, Todd, Brooke and Julia, Stella is also survived by a great great grandson, Lennon, along with sisters Irene Strzalkowski of Buffalo and Bernice Swiatek of Gowanda. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her parents and husband Stanley of 27 years, Stella was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Edward Nowak along with a sister, Jane Dziuba.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda (716)-532-4200 from 4-7 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 @11 am from the St. Joseph’s RC Church, 90 East Main St., Gowanda. (assemble at church) Burial to follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gowanda where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
