Dunkirk track and field competes at third Varsity Select meet

LANCASTER – The Dunkirk High School indoor track and field team competed at Lancaster High School on Friday night in the third Varsity Select meet of the season.

In the boys pole vault, Tim Cerrie tied for second place with a vault of 10 feet.

Nick Barlette won the 50-meter in 6.1 seconds while Jose Morales tied for third in 6.3 seconds.

The boys 4×800 relay team placed first in 9:23.6 with Ethan Francis, Javier Soto, Ray Tarnowski and Alec Tomaszewski combining for the victory.

In the 600, Soto was second in 1:33.7 and Francis was third with a time of 1:34.5.

Tomaszewski was fifth in the 1,000 with a time of 2:54.4.

Julio Cheverez placed seventh in the 300 at :43.3 and Dominic Hitchcock placed ninth in the shot put with a distance of 37-feet, 8-inches.

The 4×400 relay of Morales Cerrie, Stephan Borrero and Alex Montalban placed eighth, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:12.3.

The Dunkirk girls were led by Calan Pogorzelski who finished fourth in the 300 (:48.4) and fifth in the 1,000 (3:34.2).

Amancia Viera took sixth in the shot put at 29-1/2 while Emilee Hanlon and Faith Rivera tied for 11th place in the 50 with a time of 7.5 seconds.
