Alice E. Murphy
CASSADAGA – Alice E. Murphy, 84, of Cassadaga, died Wed., Jan. 29, 2014 at the Chautauqua County Home.
Born Sept. 11, 1929 in Franklinville, daughter of the late Harold and Emma Lamb Miller.
She was a 1947 graduate of Franklinville High School.
Alice was employed as a clerk for over 10 years at the Job Corps, Cassadaga, retiring in 2001, and previously had worked at the New York State Unemployment office, Dunkirk.
She had previously been a Girl Scout Leader, active with the former C.C.B.L. and had directed and sung in choirs at St. John Bosco R.C. Church, St. Mary’s/St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church and currently attended St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Fredonia.
Alice enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Mother of David (Anna) Murphy of Tennessee, Anne Mosier of Cassadaga and the late Joan Inwood; grandmother of Michelle, Dustin, David, Ariel, Kenneth and Nathan; great-grandmother of 9; sister of Anne Narbiewski of Kansas and the late Mary Clemens, Grace Conklin, Robert, Harold and Dana Miller. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 3-6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
