Gowanda High School names students of the month

Devin Austin Grade 12; technology

Devin was nominated by Tom Partridge. He is a hard working student who shows an interest in technology and is also not afraid to try something new. He has done exceptionally well learning the new 3-D modeling program called Solidworks. Devin is polite, mild mannered, easy to get along with and just a decent guy to have in class. Devin is a member of Growing Voices. His future plans include attending JCC and then transferring to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he hopes to graduate with a master’s degree in industrial design.

Dustin Harmon Grade 12; physical education

Dustin was nominated by Brian Denea. In class, Dustin keeps challenging himself. He has made a huge improvement over the past couple years. Dustin is a snowboarder in the winter months. After high school he plans to pursue a career in welding. His advice to students is to find a career that you are interested in and passionate about. This will make you a truly successful person.

Elizabeth Monk Grade 9; English language arts

Elizabeth was nominated because of her work ethic. She has maintained a 99 percent average through the first and second marking period and has made it a habit to turn her work in early. Liz participates in class, helps others, and often volunteers to help. Overall, Liz is a great girl! Elizabeth is on the track team, a member of the STEM program and participates in musicals, band, chorus and all-county chorus. Her goals for the future are to be an English teacher and/or an author because she loves reading and writing. She advises students to not be afraid to try new things because you don’t know if you like doing something until you try it.

Felicia Rebmann Grade 12; Panther PRIDE.

This month’s selection is Felicia Rebmann. Felicia is an outstanding student. She is a cheerleader for the Gowanda Panthers and works at Shop N’ Save. She plans to attend Jamestown Community College in the fall and study occupational therapy. Felicia would like people to know that she is a nice person who meets each day with a smile. The person who influenced her was her brother because he has always been there for her. Her advice to students is to try your best and always do the work.

Geoffrey Burr Grade 9; social studies

Geoffrey was nominated by Tim Smith because he comes to class to learn each day. Geoff completes quality work and is an asset to the Gowanda High School. Geoff would like to become an inventor after completing high school. His goal includes continuing to work hard and achieving high grades while at GHS.

Hannah Sisti Grade 11; science

Hannah was chosen by Jon Spiegel because she can be relied upon during forensics. She is a hard worker who takes Panther Pride in neatness, accuracy, and assignments done on time. She asks great questions in class and enters the room with a wonderful smile. Hannah works well with her peers, answering their questions and offering her help.
