Pack 126 holds Pinewood Derby
MAYVILLE – Mayville Cub Scout Pack 126 held its annual Pinewood Derby race at Chautauqua Lake Central School’s cafeteria recently. Out of 39 members of the Pack, 36 scouts worked hard on their cars and watched enthusiastically as their cars raced down the track.
This event is one of scouting’s traditions. Each year brings just as much excitement as the previous year. In addition, the derby can present an opportunity to teach good sportsmanship and cover an elective or requirement necessary to meet rank guidelines.
Each participant received a 2014 Pinewood Derby patch. Trophies were awarded to the first, second and third place winners for each den. In addition, trophies were given to the first, second and third place overall winners in the whole pack.
For the Tiger Den, first place went to Gage Freeburg, second to Daniel Dixon and third place to Aiden Starks. For the Wolf Den Cameron Paternosh received first place, Wyatt Richard second and Jakob Parker third. For the Bear Den, first place went to Nic Webb, second to Jonah Reyda and third to Evan Flurie. For the Webelo 1 Den, first place went to, Chris Breads, second to Ethan Starks and third to Andrew Thompson. For the Webelo 2 Den, first place went to Chris Stratton, second to Jaedon Enos and third to Alex Godfrey.
Overall winners of Pack 126’s Pinewood Derby were Tiger Scout Gage Freeburg first place, Webelo 1 Scout Chris Breads second place and Tiger Scout Daniel Dixon third place
