Clelia DiPalma, 90, of Dunkirk, NY died Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014) at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 19, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Louis and Concetta (Cucchiella) Pontecorvo, she was one of six daughters. In 1952, she married her beloved husband, Nicholas F. DiPalma who during World War II served in the U.S. Army. He died in 1993.
Clelia worked in the Dunkirk Middle School Library for 17 years, was an avid reader and had a pas-sion for opera. Because of her strong religious devotion, the center of her life was God and family.
She is survived by her children, Louis P. (Patty) DiPalma, Paul N. (Margarita (DiPalma) and her daughter and best friend, Elizabeth Jude DiPalma, all of Fredonia; her grandchildren, Adam P. DiPalma of Rock Hill, SC, Alexis DiPalma of Fredonia, Michael DiPalma of New York City, Sarah DiPalma of Miami, Fla., and Amanda DiPalma of Carmel, Ind.; and great grandchildren, Julian and Natalia DiPalma of Fredonia. Also her sisters, Emilia Pontecorvo, Eva Criswell and Frances Mary (James) Egloff, all of Buffalo, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, from 6-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Flowers gratefully declined. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
