Roger Burton Trump
Roger Burton Trump, 88 of North East, PA, native of Westfield, NY went with the Lord peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on February 3, 2014.
Roger was born on November 26, 1925 to the late Leonard and Clara Keopka Trump. Roger was a graduate of Westfield High School and attended Cornell University before coming home to work his family dairy/grape/maple syrup “Everohill” farm on Hardscrabble Road, Westfield, N.Y.
Roger was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Miller Trump (October 26, 1987) whom he married February 11, 1950. Roger is forever in the long awaiting open arms of his true love, dear family, friends, his special kitty Tweety and his many cows in heaven.
Roger was a quiet, soft spoken man with true pure faith, and honesty. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. He enjoyed animals, nature, traveling, reading and gardening. He accomplished visiting 50 states during his life.
His true life passion was riding and watching trains. Roger put many years of devoted time building, supporting and enjoying the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society/Museum in North East, PA.
He was an active member of the Chautauqua County Farm Bureau, serving as county president for two years and a delegate to the NY State Farm Bureau. He was also active in the Western NY Guernsey Breeders Association, American Guernsey Cattle Club, Dairy-lea Cooperative, Country Life Club, and the Town of Westfield Zoning Board of Appeals.
He was a volunteer usher at The Rockefeller Arts Center at the State University of New York at Fredonia. Roger spent many years with the Chautauqua County Genealogical Society in Fredonia, NY. He also served on the board of directors for the Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County Texas, and was a member and former Director of the Lake Shore Railroad Historical Society of North East, PA. He kept weather records on his farm for the NOAA Weather Bureau for 52 years.
He was an ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Roger received many awards for his contributions to agriculture.
Roger is survived by his son, Peter (Christina) Trump of North East, PA, which he resided with the past 4 years. A daughter, Rebecca Bailey of Arkansas. Granddaughter Layla M. Vogt (fiance) Dan Herlehy of Hamburg, NY. Grandchildren Joshua Fisher, Jessika Fisher, Matthew Bailey. Great-grandchildren, Emily, Lucas, Jaylen, Connor, and Bryson. A dear and very special care giver, Stacy Phelps and Sam Long of North East, PA. Special appreciation and respect to Ashley, RN, Nick, RN, Julie, RN and the entire staff of The Community Nurses and Hospice of North East, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fredrick Trump.
A private graveside burial and celebration of life memorial will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield, N.Y, at a later date.
