Cassadaga mayor receives award
CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Village Board met to discuss various projects on Wednesday night.
Mayor LeeAnn Lazarony received a letter in December congratulating her on being selected to receive the 2013 Citation for Exemplary Service in Public Works award at the Association’s Annual Awards Banquet, which will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Protocol Restaurant in Williamsville.
“This award is not just mine, Roxanne has done a lot of work. I am going to accept this award on behalf of the whole village,” she said. “I am very honored and humbled by it.”
The water project is now in its fifth and final year. The village has put together this $4 million project that has been in the making for two decades.
The water project included a new tank, water lines, well and a new treatment plant.
Lazarony said she plans on having a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the well when it is all done.
Village Clerk Roxanne Astry said everyone likes what has been done so far.
Lazarony said Fredonia Mayor Stephen Keefe said on a radio talk show he is really excited about working with the village on the water.
“He really wants to work with the village,” she said.
The board members are all working to put the budget together for the village, which needs to be finished by May.
They will start working on it during a special time Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
