Pizza Hut to host ‘Fun’draiser for Laurel Run Tuesday
Laurel Hotelling will celebrate her birthday this month, and the community is invited to help celebrate the occasion by supporting the annual charitable event that bears her name.
All day long on Tuesday, the Pizza Hut on Route 60 in Fredonia will host a “Fun”draiser in honor of Hotelling. The restaurant is ready to donate 20 percent of each order to Laurel Run, a fund-raising event created by Laurel’s parents, Wayne and Elaine Hotelling of Silver Creek.
The 18th annual Laurel Run will be held July 18 and 19. The event was established to celebrate the achievements of people with disabilities like Laurel, who has Down syndrome. Laurel has a job at The Resource Center’s Mary Andrews Center on East Chestnut Street in Dunkirk, and Laurel Run seeks to raise public awareness about the potential existing within everyone who has a disability.
Money raised through Laurel Run is directed to Filling the Gap Inc., which works with The Resource Center to support people with disabilities in Chautauqua County.
For the Pizza Hut “Fun”draiser, diners will not receive a discount on the cost of their meal. Rather, 20 percent of what people pay for their meal will be donated to Laurel Run.
To have Pizza Hut donate 20 percent of your order to Laurel Run, you must fill out a form and give it to your server. (A printable copy of the form can be found at laurel-run.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/lrpizzahutform2.pdf.)
Pizza Hut likely will have extra forms on hand, so if you forget to bring the form with you, notify your server that you are there to support Laurel Run. The fund-raising promotion also applies to carryout orders, so if you order by phone or online, tell your server you are supporting Laurel Run when you arrive to pick up your order.
The Pizza Hut is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
