MRB Group said looking forward to working with town of Dunkirk

The MRB Group will be working closely with the Town of Dunkirk on its comprehensive plan.

MRB Group Director of Business Development Diana Smith said she is very pleased to be working with the town.

“I am really looking forward to this,” she said. “We will work on inspiring participation and interaction with the public.”

Smith said her team works well together.

“We are teamed together for our various expertise,” she said.

Smith said her team is working on a website that will help the town.

“It is a really effective tool; it is an easy and convenient way to communicate with the town,” she said. “In addition to learning about the process, and how we move forward, they can share comments with the committee right from home.”

Smith believes one of the most important parts of a plan is its identity.

“One of the most important elements of a plan is the identity and character of the town,” she said. “History is an important part of that.”

Smith said the board asked some really excellent questions during its presentation.

“We are really looking forward to meeting with the community,” she said. “The board cares really deeply about their community.”

MRB Group Project Manager Connie Sowards said her background helped her to identify with the town.

“I think this is a great opportunity,” she said. “I could really identify with the town board.”

Sowards added she told the board she “really walked a mile in their shoes.”

“I come from a municipal background,” she said. “I was the clerk for Seneca Falls.”

Sowards said she wants to make this a wonderful experience for the community.

“We come from a very small community, which had the same love and passion as this one,” she said. “We are very sensitive to that.”

Sowards said her team is ready to dive and it’s going to be fun.

“It is going to be very interesting to see the community’s vision and what is important to them,” Sowards said. “We are going to listen to the community.”

She explained that her team has a timeline that will work.

“During Phase 2 we will be sending out the surveys asking for community input,” she said.

While visiting Dunkirk, Sowards was amazed by the lake.

“I was so amazed with the lake being frozen and the beauty of it,” she said. “It looked like it was coming in on a wave and froze like that.”

Sowards said she and Smith have worked together for 10 years now.

“We are a nice blend,” she said. “We work very well together.”

Environmental Design and Research, the company working with MRB?on this project, is a wonderful company, according to So-wards, and she looks forward to working with it.

EDR Director of Planning Jane Rice said she looks forward to teaming with MRB Group and working on this project.

“Our goals are to accomplish what goals the town has,” she said. “We want to understand the town’s goals and we want to reach their goals by seeing their vision.”

Rice said Dunkirk is a really beautiful town and beautiful location.

“We want the community to really understand and respect their local resources,” she said.

Rice said she is always thrilled to know a town’s history.

“We will help the town see their own vision,” she said. “We learn as a group a golden nugget that hasn’t been brought forth.”

Rice said her team brings great experience and they work collectively together.

“We are very thrilled to be working with the town,” she concluded.
