Sinclairville Library will be closed on Monday

The Sinclairville Free Library will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents Day. There will be no preschool story hour on Wednesday. The Board of Trustees will meet on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.

CCIDA meets Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the board room, 200 Harrison St., Jamestown.

Dunkirk Free Library offering new computer classes free of charge

Two new free computer classes are planned for the Dunkirk Free Library. An instructor from BOCES will lead the classes.

Introduction to Word starts Tuesday. The six-session class runs from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. It meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks.

An eight-session basic computer class begins on March 11. It runs from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and It meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks.

For further information or to register call the library at 366-2511. Registrations will be taken up to the day of the class. If the class is full, a waiting list will be established.

Annual Pink Ladies Ride Sunday morning

The Cherry Creek Sno-Goers snowmobile club is sponsoring its annual Pink Ladies Ride Sunday. Pro-ceeds from this fundraiser will go to SHARE, an advocacy group for women with breast and ovarian cancer.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Cassadaga Country Club with the ride starting at 10 a.m. They will be riding to the home of Clyde and Jan Rodgers in Cherry Creek, where there will be a luncheon for all registered riders. There will be a drawing for a helmet and silent auction items.

Tax assistance this Saturday

The Chautauqua County Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition will have two walk-in VITA Sites open on Saturday in Dunkirk at the SUNY Fredonia technology incubator, 214 Central Ave., room 124-125 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Forestville Central High School Library, 4 Academy St., For-estville, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is also an appointment-only site: Wednesday from 4:15 to 7 p.m. at the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, 626 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Call 366-5424 to schedule an appointment.

An IRS certified volunteer will prepare your taxes at no cost. All tax returns are filed electronically. You must bring your social security card and picture identification with you. If you are filing married filing jointly, both spouses must be present to sign required forms.

If you worked in 2013, but earned less than the income guidelines, you may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit – even if you are not required to file an income tax return.

Due to the water emergency in the Village of Brocton, the meeting of the Chautauqua County Water Agency has been changed to today at 7 p.m. in the Mayor’s Conference Room of Dunkirk City Hall.
