Pack 219 holds Lego Derby race

CASSADAGA – For many years, Cub Scout Pack 219 in Cassadaga has held an annual Pinewood Derby.

This year to kick off the racing season, the boys held their very first Lego Derby at the American Legion in Cassadaga.

Each boy was given wheel axles and then could make a car out of Legos any way he wanted as long as it fit the same dimensions for the Pinewood Derby race.

Coming in first place was Jared Dorman (Webelos II). Second place was Max Pingitore (Webelos II). Third place was Tristin Pryl (Tiger).

About 35 boys participated. Each boy got to race his car four times. A timer determined the car’s speed.

The Pinewood Derby race is set for March 1.
